THE HOLY GRAIL OF IRISH DRINKING SONGS

Brobdingnagian Bards

Songs of IrelandA compilation of our most-popular Irish drinking songs about drinking.

*** TWO TIME WINNER of AUSTIN MUSIC AWARD ***

Marc drinks. Andrew drives. This partnership has led to one of the most-productive Celtic music groups in Texas. Though one half of the Brobdingnagian Bards does not drink, this doesn’t stop the duo from having a lot of fun singing their favorite Irish Drinking Songs. You don't have to drink alcohol to enjoy this fun compilation of the Brobdingnagian Bards most-popular songs about drinking.

We went through our earlier CDs and picked our favorites songs about drinking and put them on one CD. All of the songs are newly remastered. You'll find songs from A Faire To Remember, Songs of Ireland, Brobdingnagian Fairy Tales, and even a track from our first CD, Marked By Great Size. Plus, there are five new songs currently unavailable that we hope to release on one of our next CDs.

Special thanks to Michael and Evo of SliceOfSciFi.com who inspired the album. Thanks to Deb who helped inspire the idea for the CD cover which was photographed and designed by Marc Gunn.

What do others say about this CD?

“If you’ve ever dreamed of walking into a pub like you’d picture came out of the Quiet Man then this is the cd for you. Marc and Andrew have put together another awesome cd of tunes that make you want to head down to the local pub and lift a pint. This is one cd that always helps put me in a better mood and keeps me chuckling along. Each song, whether a traditional drinking song or not manages to extol the virtues and dangers of booze. The song choices capture the joviality that you’re not likely to find outside of a darkened bar.”

“This CD is absolutely wonderful, particularly for those with a love of irish and celtic classics, as well as those fans of drinking in general. The tunes are quite catching and really stick in your head. I challenge anyone to listen to this and not start bouncing and singing along. I've tested this theory on innocent visitors to my home, it's true. Every person I've gotten to listen has enjoyed it thoroughly. But just so you don't think I'm some fanboy that couldn't say anything bad… While most every song is quite wonderful, sometimes they don't flow too well into each other. It kind of knocks me out of my groove to go from “Beer Beer Beer” on to the “Black Velvet Band.” And a few don't really seem to fit the “theme.” Like “A Begging I Will Go.” Seems out of place surrounded by “Wild Rover,” and “Health to the Company.” However, that does not mean that the song is not great, just simply that it doesn't quite fit with all of the others. This would be my biggest problem. All in all, a must own, a stronger CD overall than most any I've encountered.”
